Space to Breathe 90 Day Journal
Create space for self care and self discovery in your life, so that you can be your best self for yourself and those you love
“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival”
Audre Lorde
Do you make time to take care of yourself on a daily basis, to give time to do the things that make you feel good physically, mentally and emotionally?
When you have so many responsibilities, roles and items on your to-do list, how easy do you find it to prioritise taking care of you?
It can sometimes feel like self care is a luxury that you cannot afford. But what is the cost of not taking care of yourself?
It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary
Mandy Hale
Despite what society may tell you, self care is not a luxury, an indulgence, or a selfish act.
Self care does not mean that you don’t care for those around you. It doesn’t mean that you don’t meet your responsibilities to others.
It simply means that you take care of yourself as well. How can you be all that others need you to be if you are not able to function at your best?
You wouldn’t allow your car to run without petrol, air, oil, water or regular check-ups and expect it to get you where you need to be without problems.
You wouldn’t deny your children the rest, food, exercise, fun and love that they need.
You wouldn’t ignore your friends when they need your support and care.
But are you making time to give yourself all that you need to be well?

The Space to Breathe 90 Day Journal has been created to help you take care of yourself so that you can take care of those you love!
Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel
Eleanor Brown
Who will do your job when you are sick?
Who will look after the kids when you are exhausted and can’t function at your best?
Who will take care of YOU if you aren’t doing it?
Self care is vital if you are to be at your best in all the areas of your life that are important to you. But self care is not a one size fits all idea – your self care needs are unique to you. Often, we don’t even know what we need until we start to look closely.
This 90 Day Journal has been created to help you create your self care practices that work for you and your life, to help you develop the habit of daily self care, and to provide space for reflection and self learning to help you better know what you need.

Author and teacher
Esther Nagle
Esther Nagle knows from painful personal experience just how much harm can be done when you don’t take care of yourself.
A single mother for most of her adult life, Esther has battled many mental health issues and a lifetime of undiagnosed ADHD, self medicating and ‘managing’ her stress and symptoms with alcohol, cigarettes, recreational drugs, sugar, loud rock music, rage and other less than helpful ‘coping’ strategies. ‘Self care’ was usually treating herself to a bottle of wine, although she did begin to discover that walking and Yoga were also good ways to feel good and de-stress.
A breakdown in 2013 forced her to look at her life, and make some changes. Yoga teacher training seemed the perfect solution when she needed a new career. Through this training, she learned to breathe properly, to relax, to manage her emotions, and to learn to see herself with compassion and forgiveness. This new self care helped her to heal many old wounds, and to let go of the addictions and inner turmoil that had blighted her life for so long, discovering a purpose and passion for helping others in the process.
Esther knows the powerful impact that self care can have on your wellbeing, and the wellbeing of those around you. Her relationships with her children, her friends, her family and those she encounters in her daily life have all improved since she learned to take better care of herself. She has written the ‘Space to Breathe 90 Day Journal’ to help you learn some of the tools and habits that have helped her transform her life and find happiness and health for herself!

I am passionate about the importance of self care for women. In a society that wants us to believe that the answers to our happiness and wellbeing needs lie outside ourselves, that we need to buy products to make us relax and be happy, discovering that we are able to find relaxation, happiness and inner peace inside ourselves is a revolutionary act. Through this book, I hope to help you discover what is truly important for you, to help you create routines and practices that nourish and sustain you on a daily basis, and to connect you the wisdom and peace you have within.

Alcohol isn’t the answer
I read with interest an article in the Independent today. It was reporting on a warning from a World Health Organisation expert on the consumption of alcohol as a 'coping strategy' during the Coronavirus pandemic. I have a 20 year history of using alcohol as a 'coping...
The Stories on my Skin
Do you have any tattoos? I know they are not to everyone's taste, and if you don't like tattoos, you probably won't like mine. I adore mine. They all mean so much to me, represent so much about me and the life I have lived. They are wonderful reminders of the...
Release the fear and do this instead
The world is holding its breath. Waiting, wondering, fearing. Uncertainty about the future has never felt so intense. Unable to know what to believe, what to trust, who to trust. An endless stream of updates, fake news, misinformation feeding the fear and the panic,...
Living in ‘interesting times’ – the 2020 version!
I am sure I am not the only one thinking of the 'may you live in interesting times' curse mentioned in Terry Pratchett's book (and apparently wrongly believed to be a Chinese curse). It certainly is a strange, worrying and scary time for us all at the moment, isn't...
Creating your perfect evening routine for good restful sleep
In my last post, I talked about creating a morning routine to support your wellbeing, personal growth and inner peace. If this has inspired you to try to get up earlier in the morning, you might be wondering how on earth you are going to do that when you struggle to...
Creating the ideal morning routine for your life
How do you begin your day? Does it start with an unwelcome alarm, a sense of rush, of not enough time, of frustration that the kids are taking too long to get ready, and the daily hunt for your keys? Mine used to. To make matters worse, they were usually accompanied...
